I've never read Metamorphosis, unfortunately. In fact, I've only read a couple of short stories by him. I know nothing about the guy himself... maybe he is a cockroach? Who knows... :) ▪
Hi Rob. Regarding the experimental ethos of em:t, I agree completely. The talent of the artists you people have brought together is excellent.
I would have to say that the song in and of itself is not bad. Far from it. The diversity of sounds in the em:t series makes it unique. About the "Gregor Samsa" thing, I do not want to say that he is a cockroach. That would be insulting.
The book Metamorphosis is compelling. Reading it intensively in school might leave certain associations. The opening line is: ´Gregor Samsa woke up one morning not feeling well.´He had turned into a giant insect overnight. A disturbing image at the very least.
About ebay, I realize that ebay is in no way causing the high prices. When I think about it, it is a form of flattery. If people are willing to pay a lot of money for these artists´ work, that means that you guys have succeeded. ▪

Exactly... em:t is about experimentation and trying new things, and there are bound to be some misses along with the hits, especially as the new em:t continues to find its feet.
Having said that, I don't think this is a terrible track or anything, although it may be less em:t than most :) I wasn't sure about the whole 'Gregor Samsa' thing... methinks this guy, whatever his real name is, was possibly having a bit of a joke :) ▪

Part of em:t's ethos is experimentation, that includes both the artists' music and the track selection for the compilations. You never really know what people are going to like or dislike. The idea is to go with your instincts. ▪

I don't know about the rest of you , but I read Kafka's Metamophosis in school. So I get this slightly nausiating idea some huge cockroach is making music! Ugh! (spent last year in Oz, many cockroaches there)
