Glad you like 'em. Inspiration came from Yello's twangy bass sounds from the mid to late eighties. Right now Orbital are testing the bass on my Sennheiser HD 600 headphones. The track(s) are from the In Sides CD, tracks 7&8; "Out There Somewhere?" (2 mins 28 sec into track 8!) This has to be one of my favourite bits of electro/techno ever. My brain is melting as I type. I'd like to turn it up to 11 on the speakers but I guess I'd piss my family off and half the street too. I've got a bootleg of Kraftwerk that I might have done myself (or maybe not officer....) from Tribal Gathering in 1997. There was one new fast track that they played near the end that really rocks the bass in a similar analogue twangy style. As far as I know they haven't released this track and it is awesome. It doesn't help that Derrick May apparently told the guys after the show that he didn't like the new track! Nutter!
I never realised how the ads customised themselves to a page but I've just seen lots of ads for David Lynch DVDs presumably because of the previous posts about him. So, The Black Dog does Run At Night!
I'll be ordering the Mullholland drive TV pilot (version prior to the extra bits being filmed to make the released film version)!
Cheers, Q ▪

Well done, Master Q! . Wonderful, I love the bass-kicks on this track! You were right to warn me about them. Not that the speakers canīt handle it, but I have to consider the neighbours... yeah, right ;-)
I have finally managed to get my hands on qubism2294 (and miasma1195!). Just two cds away from the complete original em:t series. Only need 5595 & 2297. ▪

Yeah, also I think he is playing the piano way back in Blue velvet, (in the bar where Dorothy sings) their 1st collaboration. God knows what the black dog means in the film but it means something else very personal to me......
Mulholland drive is an unbelievable headf**k! I think only a genius could have made such an awesome film from a TV pilot rejected by STUPID narrow minded TV companies. He should have gone to HBO who have no fear of being very original because they don't have advertisers to please (I think) See kerb your enthusiasm on BBC 4. Awesome comedy of the uncomfortable from Larry David, co-creator of Seinfeld. They swear as much as they like and talk about stuff you just wouldn't find on sky one methinks! ▪

Complex stuff this! The quote below is not from the track, it's one that hue mentioned from another source. The little man from Minneapolis says "are there really angels? or are they just in our mind? It all comes out in the wash......In t:me..............." BTW as I type this and get over to the right hand side, the cursor and text disappear under the ads! very troubling. I'm using windows 98 and god knows what version of Internet explorer any ideas.........? Q ▪

I've seen Fire Walk With Me. It didn't help. With anything. :)
But seriously, Lynch is most excellent, I've seen most of his stuff... and you can have real Lynch without Badalamenti of course! Although, come to think of it, I love the film of Dune and I think that was before they started collaborating (?). It's got Brian Eno on the soundtrack though.
Did you know Badalamenti has a cameo in Mulholland Drive, as the 'this is the girl' guy? Awesome! ▪

Of course I mean the guy talking about angels and t:me may be from minneapolis (sure to spell that rong!). As for the guy who is actually saying "the black dog runs at night" over and over, well you'd better ask David Lynch or watch the film "Twin Peaks - Fire Walk With Me" or buy the excellent moody soundtrack with music by Angelo Badalamenti and Lynch himself. Very un-easy listening, just how I like it!
Cheers, Qubism ▪

I'll have to listen to the track again -- I remember the quote, but I don't remember it saying that. ▪
I hardly dare say this , but the voice on the track might be a short guy from the frozen wastes of minneapolis......Q ▪
that bit about angels is a direct quote from the Bible, from Hebrews 13:2:
"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." (kjv) ▪
as mentioned before this happens to be my most played track out of all that i own.
with the sweet light female laughter caught by the wind & priming you, as you hear the main part gather into the foreground. which makes me think of a consistent movement of dust particals in a shaft of light made by the swirling electrical notes, that are adjacent to the remarkably well t:med seductive bass line, that never seems dull. the electrical swirl and bass drops out not once but twice, to allow the wind to flow and introduce a dark hidden whispering - an unheard voice way off in the distance, climbing forward… which i've interpreted for ages as "the back door runs in line, the black door runs in mind, the back door runs in t:me". [it has sent many a shiver though me]
as for "it will all come out in the wash" what more future expectation does one require. [?]
& with regards to the subject of 'angles in t:me' i would discuss 'layers of attention' and 'dimensional traversing', but that is perhaps for later. right now i have only this quote that was mentioned tonight on satellite television, by a writer who is said to have earned the rights to be enigmatic - unfortunately i did not catch his name, though these are his guiding principles (hence upper case):
BE NOT INHOSPITABLE TO STRANGERS
LEST THEY BE ANGELS IN DISGUISE. cc
he is said to have formed this outlook whilst on a walk that started in mexico and went down though south america. ▪
