Aquapump is the correct title for this piece on the original contract with Time Recording. Unfortunately everyone in Time Recording (Dave, Chris, Will and Tom) always referred to this piece as "waterpump", so the name stuck and this appeared as the title on the CD. There is a resonance between abha and "aqua", which of course is totally lost in the title "waterpump", and this resonance was intended to suggest to the listener that the work was also symbolic. However it's such a powerful experience that it is successful purely as a spatial aural pictorial (and rhythmic) experience.
Recorded in Shining Cliff Woods, Ambergate, Derbyshire, UK at dawn on May 29th, "aquapump" is a small extract from a complete work lasting about 45 minutes. ▪
